Early this morning a massive invasion of Ukraine by Russian and Belarusian army units was launched by land and air. Peaceful cities in Ukraine were targeted by the blitzkrieg offensive including Kharkiv, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Mariupol Odessa and others.
There will be civilian casualties, and massive displacement of the population leading to a flood of refugees to Europe.
It is the height of barbarity and the world must unite to stop those responsible. Ursula von der Leyen the President of the European Commission has said that the EU will hold the Kremlin accountable
This unprovoked aggression must be robustly punished by the mother of all sanctions against the Russian Federation and Belarus and their ruling elites. All trade and economic links with these two blocks should be outlawed, their commercial and private assets frozen. All airspace over Russia and Belarus must be frozen and transportation links shut down.
The world should also prepare to expel Russia from the Security Council of the United Nations; it is unthinkable that a country entrusted with the responsibility of protecting world security can be accepted in this organisation after such hypocrisy.
The world must stand with Ukraine, and prepare the forces of justice to stand against this evil.
