It’s Christmas so that must mean one thing – Panto time.
Oh yes it is….
Audiences will have to wait a bit longer here than in the UK to catch this year’s annual offering – Beauty and the Beast at Auderghem Cultural Centre.
But the show is well worth waiting for.
It tells the story of Prince Charleroi and a cast of characters, some named after Belgian towns.
When the Prince refuses the unwanted advances of evil Fairy Villanelle, she casts a spell on his castle, turning him into the terrifying Beast and his servants into clocks, candlesticks and cutlery.
He must find true love before the last petal falls from one of the roses in the castle garden or stay forever as the Beast.
Come along on this extravagant adventure and meet a host of fabulous characters, such as Dame Blanche and her son, the vain Jean-Claude Van Tastique, Belle’s brother Clumsy Clarence and their two inexplicably Belgian sisters Stephanie and Louiza…
Expect fairies, feather dusters, cakes and cream, suits of armour, spectacular song and dance routines, and loads of superbly bad jokes. Enjoy a fresh spin on the classic tale, written and directed by Kate Goddard and Chris Jones.
