The Republic of Bulgaria has commended the far-reaching reforms undertaken by the Kingdom of Morocco under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the renewed efforts for political, economic and social development. Specifically Bulgaria has said that they consider the Moroccan autonomy initiative to be a serious and credible basis for resolving the Sahara conflict.
In a Joint Statement adopted in Rabat by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mariya Gabriel, the Bulgarian Minister also welcomed Morocco’s New Development Model.
The Bulgarian delegation also welcomed Morocco’s constructive efforts to strengthen stability, growth and development in Africa, and reiterated its support for efforts under the auspices of the United Nations to find a just, pragmatic, lasting and mutually acceptable political solution to the Sahara conflict.
Both Bulgaria and Morocco also affirmed their support for the efforts of the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy, Staffan de Mistura, to bring the parties to the negotiating table and move the political process forward. According to the Joint Statement issued they also reaffirmed their support for MINURSO.
