Are you a wine lover, especially wines from Alsace in France? If so, a popular international annual wine event may go down a treat.
WineParis gives visitors the chance to discover the richness and diversity of French and international wines and spirits.
Visitors can once again also experience the dynamic nature of Alsace wines, with a record-breaking number of Alsatian producers represented at the show this year.
There are a total of 72 winegrowers and wineries from Alsace exhibiting (compared to 57 in 2022) including 37 on the Conseil Interprofessionnel des Vins d’Alsace (CIVA) stand.
The Alsatian exhibitors will be present in each hall while entertainment and masterclass-tasting will take place on 14 February from 11.30am for an hour.
These will be led by Thierry Fritsch, an oenologist and chief wine educator at the CIVA, who will speak on the topic “Let go of your misconceptions about Alsace wines”.
He says he will try to challenge four “common misconceptions” about Alsace wines and “show how untrue they really are.”
Throughout the show, 70 wines will be available to try at a free pour tasting on the CIVA stand which hopes to demonstrate how Alsace is at the “intersection of current trends” while French magazine La Revue du Vin de France is hosting its own masterclass on 13 February.
This is dedicated to Alsace on the theme: “The Young Alsatian Winegrowers present how red and white wines express themselves when grown on the same terroir, with Jean-Emmanuel Simond”.
Alsace wine is also being showcased at another upcoming event, “PROWEIN 2023” from March 19 to 21 at the Exhibition Centre in Düsseldorf.
Fifty Alsatian winegrowers and wineries will be present at this international trade fair.
Raising awareness about wines from the region is being spearheaded by the Alsace Rocks! campaign, first launched in New York in 2018.
This has seen the popularity of Alsace wines take off worldwide, with 18 events and 6 campaigns carried out in 13 countries to support growth in the export market.
A campaign source said, “Alsace Rocks! strengthens the image and positioning of our wines through a communication and promotional campaign that is tailored to suit the needs of each market.”
“Alsace Rocks! can also be used as a prospecting exercise in markets with strong potential for Alsace winegrowers and wineries by promoting the wines point of sale. Building on these successes, Alsace Rocks! will start again in Spring with around 29 campaigns and events around the world.”
