Vitaliy Kropachov’s Era Production has helped broadcast a joint TV marathon after a missile attack on a TV tower in Kyiv, writes Gary Cartwright.
Ukraine World News, a TV channel owned by Ukrainian businessman Vitaliy Kropachov, plans to start broadcasting the joint all-Ukrainian TV marathon under the Tak TV logo on February 1. This is not the first time that the businessman supported a joint product of Ukrainian media. After Russia’s missile attack on the TV tower in Kyiv on March 1, Kropachov provided his equipment to broadcast the marathon’s signal.
“When the Russians attacked the TV tower, the digital signal of the marathon was cut off in Kyiv and the region. “Era Production already had a new transmitter, server and its own antenna, and the owner of the company, Vitaliy Kropachov, provided his facilities to ensure an uninterrupted signal,” Era Production director Tatiana Demeneva said.
According to Demeneva, Era Production maintained the signal for two months, including until April 30.
“In agreement with the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting, we turned off our clients and turned on the signal of the key broadcasters that broadcast the national TV marathon, namely 1+1, Suspilne, and others,” Demeneva said.
Russia launched a missile attack on the Kyiv TV tower on 1 March last year. The strike killed 5 people and damaged the tower’s equipment and technical facilities.
Kropachov acquired Era Production in December 2021. Era Production LLC has a unique broadcasting license that allows it to broadcast TV channels in digital terrestrial broadcasting, having only one of three licenses: for satellite broadcasting, OTT broadcasting or analog terrestrial broadcasting in the city of Kyiv and the region. According to the license, Era Production can broadcast 12 programmes.
Vitaliy Kropachov is a Ukrainian businessman from Donetsk region and a philanthropist. His main activity is the coal business. He also has assets in the engineering, construction, and transportation industries, and owns media assets, including Era Production and the Ukraine World News TV channel.
