In 1936, no one could have imagined that Hitler would start a war that destroyed half the world. In 2022, the whole world witness the genocide launched by Putin against Ukrainians hoping that this would not affect the rest of the world. Before World War II, the same misconception led to tragedy. Russia must be completely thrown out of the civilised world at all costs, otherwise the West will have to pay an even greater price. Putin’s lies and Russian propaganda should not mislead anyone.
Against the background of military defeat in Ukraine and the inability to hold onto occupied territories, a large-scale campaign to discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine began in Russia after 21 November. As part of this campaign, several fake videos were created, where the Ukrainian military allegedly shoot Russian prisoners of war. While releasing these videos, Russian propaganda called the Ukrainians “monsters.” Thus, the ground is being created for discrediting Ukraine, reducing support from the West, as well as intensifying mobilization in Russia itself. Putin’s lies should not mislead the civilised world: a strategic failure at the front has turned Russia into a fake incubator and an empire of vile lies.
In order to discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian propaganda launched a large-scale information campaign by creating three fake videos where the Ukrainian military allegedly shoot captured Russians. These demonstration videos were shown by Russian propaganda in order to discredit Ukraine and reduce support from the West. Putin is in dire need of a tactical pause through negotiations that Russia has been begging from Ukraine for a long time. The Kremlin’s logic is quite simple: to force Ukraine to agree to a second full-scale invasion after the Russian army takes a breath and accumulates the necessary resources. For this, Russia is ready to voice any lie, using all the Kremlin’s propaganda resources, including the distribution of fake video material.
Putin’s threat to the whole world has reached an unprecedented level: Russia is a geopolitical monster driven by a thirst for territorial expansion and the destruction of a disloyal population. The information war is an important component in spreading of the Russian threat. The Kremlin should be completely isolated politically and economically: this should be the main task for the leading countries of the world, and Ukraine should receive all the support necessary to protect itself from an asymmetrically powerful enemy.
Putin seeks to create a perfect image of Ukraine as an enemy so that the Russians, who have become victims of criminal propaganda, go to war and kill Ukrainians. If the West does not find a way to oppose Putin and does not support Ukraine, which is actually the “shield of Europe”, Russian propaganda will begin to call for the Europeans to go and kill, who in Russia are already de facto associated with enemies. In 1945, Stalinist propaganda infuriated the Soviet troops, who committed atrocities in the occupied territories not only in Germany, but also in Poland, Czechoslovakia, Austria, Romania, Bulgaria, and Hungary. Russian propaganda is now doing the same against Russians who are full of hatred against everyone who is not part of Russia. In this regard, Russia is a geopolitical paradox: a de facto “third world” country with abandoned territory and a resource-based economy, but with existing nuclear weapons, striving for territorial expansion against the background of the degradation of its own territory. The threat to Europe is not a myth, but a reality. Brussels needs to wake up and support Ukraine, which is actually holding back the invasion of the Russian Horde.
Ukraine must urgently receive air defense and missile defense systems to protect infrastructure from Russian missiles. If Putin’s “rocket terror” fails, the Russian army will suffer defeats that are even more tangible. The Russian threat must be eliminated forever, the Russian army must be destroyed in Ukraine, otherwise it will commit crimes and genocide on the territory of Europe. This is no exaggeration, but the harsh truth.
