The French Directorate General of Foreign Intelligence (DGSE) announced on Thursday the release of four French officials detained for a year in Burkina Faso. Paris has thanked Morocco for its role as mediator in this case.
Following the mediation of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, His Excellency Mr. Ibrahim Traoré, President of the Republic of Burkina Faso, responded favourably to the king’s request for the release of four French nationals, detained in Ouagadougou since December 2023.
This humanitarian act was made possible thanks to the excellent relations between His Majesty the King, President Traoré and the good relations that have long united the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Burkina Faso.
The French President spoke on Wednesday by telephone with His Majesty King Mohammed VI, King of Morocco, to warmly thank him for the success of the mediation that made possible the release of his four compatriots held for a year in Burkina Faso.
The release of the four French nationals also serves as a reminder of Morocco’s international influence under the leadership of its sovereign, the excellence of the kingdom’s relations with France and the French people, observers indicate.
They emphasise that this release demonstrates, once again, the power of persuasion and the international influence of Morocco under the leadership of King Mohammed VI.
