King Mohammed VI of Morocco went on Tuesday afternoon to the “Mohammed VI” university hospital centre in Marrakech where inquired about the health of the wounded, victims of the disastrous earthquake which occurred on Friday September 8 and which caused significant human and material losses in several regions of the kingdom of Morocco.
He visited the resuscitation and hospitalisation service of the victims of the earthquake to learn about the state of health of the wounded as well as the care provided to them.
This royal initiative is of great moral support for the wounded and their families, and reinforced the initiatives and measures taken in accordance with royal instructions, to rescue, assist and support people affected by the earthquake of Al-Haouz.
Some 2,171 injured were admitted to the various hospitals in the Marrakech-Safi region, including 484 major injured and 1,570 minors. 248 people are still hospitalized.
On the occasion of this visit King Mohammed VI also donated his blood, a strong gesture which also testifies to royal benevolence and expresses the entire solidarity of the sovereign and his total compassion to the victims and to the grieving families.
The visit of His Majesty the King to the CHU “Mohammed VI” reflects his solicitude for the victims of the earthquake of Al-Haouz, and illustrates the symbiosis which exists between His Majesty the king and his people in the hour of their misfortune. This will help the kingdom of Morocco to manage the crisis of the moment and to look to the future with optimism and determination.
