According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic, the President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader firmly supports Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara and its intention to consider as a priority in future expansion plans the opening of a consulate in the city of Dakhla.
President Abinader also stated that the Dominican Republic considers the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco as the only solution to the dispute over the Sahara.
This was announced after the inauguration ceremony of the Dominican Republic’s President to Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister for Foreign Affairs representing HM King Mohammed VI, who conveyed to President Abinader the Sovereign’s congratulations and best wishes to the President for success in his new term of office.
Bourita also extended the invitation of HM King Mohamed VI to President Abinader to pay an official visit to Morocco, an opportunity to establish a framework for deepening bilateral relations in various fields.
The President indicated his willingness to strengthen bilateral relations in all areas, and his intention to visit Morocco.
