Calling all companies – do you want to improve team spirit among your workforce? If so, a new “Eurovision-type” teambuilding event has just been launched and could be just for you.
The idea is the brainchild of “Corporate Music Awards” (CoMA) , a company founded in June 2021 by Lionel Duez (its CEO) and Gaëthan Dehoux (Artistic Director).
They have come up with a new idea whereby each employee of a company that participates in the teambuilding event chooses a role in which he/she “truly finds himself/herself.”
The concept consists of 4 modules: composing a song, an accompanying clip, a 40-second corporate video and, finally, a visual.
Research shows that 31% of the employees do not like teambuilding activities or that the activities “miss their target.” The new formula is, say the founders, reminiscent of the Eurovision Song Contest concept, this time not between countries but between companies.
Duez said, “97% of employees think that a lack of team spirit has an impact on team results. So, a good team is indeed important.
“But existing team activities don’t always work, or employees just don’t like them. Therefore, we launched this new formula in which a team works for a year on the creation of a song and a video clip and then competes with other companies for ‘The Golden Glasses’. Because there are so many different tasks to complete, there is something for everyone.”
Dehoux said, “There are so many aspects to creating a song and everything that goes with it and every employee can find his/her place in the story. Do you want to sing, dance or act in the clip? Or are you more technically inclined and help with the video or are you the project manager we need to follow everything up from A to Z?
“Do you want to be in the jury, or do you prefer to be one of the supporters?”
He adds, “Everything is possible but the aim is for the employee to shine in the role and we at CoMA aim to make sure of that by guiding and coaching the company team throughout the year.”
Further comment comes from Nicolas de Raulin, CEO of Taleo Consulting, who said, “It’s great to show your employees what happens behind the scenes of an artistic production: the studio, the shooting of a video etc.It is a magical experience, and that is what makes this different from traditional team building.”
