Medvedev has warned the West not to prevent Russia from destroying Ukraine.
Russia has always used blackmail as one of its key methods of information influence. Currently, the Russian army is in a strategic impasse: the winter campaign has not brought any significant results at the front, and losses in the Russian army are increasing exponentially. Russia’s arsenal is critically depleted, but Putin has ordered Gerasimov to seize the Donetsk region of Ukraine by spring, regardless of casualties.
In turn, the West has promised Ukraine new deliveries of weapons, as announced at the Ramstein 8 conference. Russia is extremely sensitive to the provision of Western weapons to Ukraine, which are superior to Russian ones in all parameters and is resorting to threats and nuclear blackmail. In this regard, Medvedev voiced a classic propaganda narrative: “if the West does not allow Russia to complete the SMO (i.e., to seize Ukraine), the question of Russia’s use of nuclear weapons remains open”. This is a typical bluff and blackmail in the hope that the West will flinch and reduce its assistance to Ukraine
On 24 February last year, Putin attempted to change the existing world order by launching a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The Russian military has brought untold misery to the Ukrainian people: tens of thousands of people have been killed, more than 7 million have been forced to flee as refugees, and the Ukrainian economy has suffered losses of more than $700 billion. The Russian army, under the cover of the “fight against Nazism” invented by Russian propaganda, has committed horrific crimes against the civilian population that can only be described as genocide. Russia is committing unheard-of crimes in Ukraine, and they have already inflicted the greatest tragedy of the Ukrainian people since 1945.
At the same time, the Russian army has proved to be completely inconsistent with the characteristics announced in the Kremlin: the “second army of the world”. It has suffered a number of defeats and was forced to retreat several. times. In the face of the tactical defeat of the Russian army, which is unable to counter Western weapons, Medvedev published another post on his telegram channel, hinting at the possibility of Russia’s use of nuclear weapons.
It is worth noting that nuclear blackmail has been widely used by Russia throughout the genocidal invasion of Ukraine, starting with the shelling of the ZNPP (Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant). Russia is acting as a terrorist state that is guided by no principles and is committing crimes against humanity. Putin has created a centre of unprecedented danger not only for Europe, but for all of humanity: the Russian army is an instrument of genocide. The supply of tanks, artillery, MLRS and long-range missiles to Ukraine is a guarantee of preserving the existing world order.
